about Laura (She/Her)

Hi there!

I created Cybermenology in 2010 as a creative outlet and I love creating one-of-a-kind pieces for anyone looking for a unique handmade accessory that tells your story.

Some random things about me (in no particular order):

  • I LOVE it when someone finds their fandom or subculture in one of my creations. Yes! You’re not alone! We’re all nerds: show it off and find your people too - they’re out there!

  • I grew up in upstate New York, and moved to St Louis in 2008.

  • I have rather a lot of string-related hobbies.

  • The size of my fabric and yarn stash is best described as “enthusiastic”.

  • I really do have a Pokemon tattoo. It is of a Spinda spinning Mareep wool on a spinning wheel.

  • It is, in fact, one of my spinning wheels. (I have three.)

  • I’m currently falling down the rabbit hole of Labyrinth of Galleria: The Moon Society on my Switch.

  • I usually watch Twitch streams or Youtube letsplays when I sew. (Fav channels: GabSmolders, KickThePJ, GameGrumps, JackSepticEye, and Hermitcraft)

  • Latest books that I LOVED: The City We Became by N. K. Jemisin, The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune, Paladin’s Strength by T. Kingfisher

  • I have an 9yo child, two cats, an astonishingly wonderful husband, and a full-time job outside of Cybermenology. I don’t sleep a lot, no.

I feel that the following is important to clarify: I occasionally make HP fandom-related products. A great many of us, including myself, feel affection for the world that we do not feel for its creator. I do not purchase my fabrics from sources which provide revenue to the books’ author. I donate a portion of my proceeds from all HP-related bags, as well as from my Pride and LBGTQIA+ themed bags, to the St Louis Metro Trans Umbrella Group (https://www.stlmetrotrans.org/). xx -L
